Let’s talk about something close to our hearts at Suncombe – our people and their wellbeing. While we’re known for our engineering excellence, there’s another achievement we’re equally proud of: creating a workplace where mental health isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a living, breathing part of our culture.
Why Mental Health Matters at Suncombe
Just like precision engineering, building a supportive workplace culture requires attention to detail and careful consideration. Our journey began with a simple recognition: Our team needed more than just technical support, they needed emotional support too. It’s rare to find a company that excels in both technical innovation and employee wellbeing, but we’re determined to be leaders in both.
Making a Real Difference
The impact? Well, our remarkably low staff turnover speaks volumes. It’s like having a well-oiled machine, when all parts are cared for properly, everything runs smoothly. Our team members aren’t just staying; they’re thriving, innovating, and growing together. To make sure that we getting it right, we asked the team who would like to be trained as a mental health first aider, and we already have a list that we are working our way through. Our first MHFA Mandy, became certified this year, and is available for all the team, whenever they need them.
To add to this, we have recently brought in a dedicated HR manager as well, and why? Because while we have the support in the moment, we also wanted to be able to support our team in their long-term needs, and also to help with our team growth goals.
Beyond the Workplace
Just as we encourage our engineers to think outside the box for technical solutions, we promote mental wellness beyond office hours. Whether it’s supporting flexible working arrangements or encouraging hobby sharing, we understand that work-life balance isn’t just a nice-to-have it’s a must-have.
