Suncombe doubles operations with new state-of-the-art facility
Suncombe, a leading global supplier of hygienic process equipment and systems, has opened a new facility in Bishop’s Stortford, near Stanstead, Essex, marking an exciting milestone in the company’s journey. The new premises will more than double the total amount of manufacturing space currently available and there is the opportunity for further expansion in the future.
The new site boasts a fully furnished workshop with 8-metre headroom, further enhancing the company’s ability to assemble larger, higher and more complex systems that Suncombe offers, without the need to complete the assembly in different phases.
Other features of the new site include that it is environmentally and procedurally controlled to only contain stainless steel alloys and higher-grade metals, to avoid cross-contamination. In addition, the production area can be segregated to provide individual manufacturing pods, for separate and confidential projects. It integrates a number of new innovative technologies, skills and facilities to enable a truly digital, highly flexible benchmark for process system manufacturing. Plus it includes a manufacturing and prototyping workshop and a dedicated area focusing on future development, making it into an innovation hub for clients.
Bishop’s Stortford, was chosen partly due to its strategic location between two of the major UK business areas for the equipment, in London and Cambridge, together with its proximity to major transport hubs, both domestic and international. It is also in close proximity to Stansted Airport. All these factors will improve responsiveness and delivery times, says the company.
“We are delighted to inaugurate our new office in, Bishop’s Stortford, a reflection of our commitment to providing world-class design and supply of process systems for the biopharma and research sectors,” said Steve Overton, director. “This expansion will allow us to increase the number and size of systems that we are able to supply and improve our lead times and factory loading.”
“The new facility has also been selected as it fits into our vision for our clients, partners and the community, to provide a sustainable enterprise with, for example, heating and cooling carried out via heat pumps, electric charging vehicle stations, solar panels and auto-dimming LED lighting,” he added.
The decision to expand capacity was taken thanks to a marked increase in orders and the demand for more bespoke and complex systems. Suncombe is already looking to recruit a new, skilled workforce to meet demand. The new facility is planned to come online over the next six months and an official Grand Opening will be announced in due course.
